Music is a performing art that mirrors human expression and experience. The
sounds of instruments and of songs stimulate a human response that is not only heard,
but also awakens and touches emotions. Responses to musical experiences include
sensory, gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, communicative, and social. As such, music
teaches about life and living, about thoughts and feelings, and about self and others. Third and fourth grade students may join the Oaklawn ShowChoir.
Students have the opportunity to study Beginning violin for all grades, advanced classes for returning students as well as cello.
